Getting started
How do I install Auris?
Download the DMG, open it, and drag Auris to Applications. Launch it and allow Microphone, Accessibility, and Input Monitoring. Stay connected to the internet until first-time setup completes.

macOS 15 or later and a Mac with Apple Silicon. Intel Macs are not supported.
How do the shortcuts work?
Hold Option for Voice Typing. Select text, then hold Cmd + Option for AI Command. Hold Control for AI Workspace. You can change these in Settings → Shortcuts.

What can I do for free?
Unlimited voice dictation in Raw mode, including offline transcription after initial setup, voice shortcuts, and transcription history. Raw means your words are transcribed without AI rewriting. Free dictation does not require an account.
What does Pro add?
Pro adds AI text refinement, styles for each app, AI Command with optional screen context, voice commands, web search, and ongoing conversations in AI Workspace. These AI features require an internet connection.

Auris automatically detects these 25 languages: Bulgarian, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Estonian, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Maltese, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish, Swedish, Ukrainian. All are included in free dictation. Accuracy varies with audio quality, accents, and vocabulary.

Yes. In Settings → AI → Per-App Overrides, choose each app’s mode, style, tone, and quality. Pro refinement applies enabled settings when you dictate there. Choose Raw for apps where you want your transcribed wording, such as an AI prompt in a terminal.

Does my voice leave my Mac?
No. Voice transcription runs on your Mac. Pro AI refinement sends the transcribed text for processing, then discards it. AI Command can also share selected text or screen context when you enable it.
Does Auris work offline?
Yes, in Raw dictation mode after initial setup is complete. Voice shortcuts also work offline. AI refinement, commands, and Workspace responses need internet.
Do I have to allow Screen Recording?
Only if you want screen context for AI Command. It is optional and is not needed for ordinary voice dictation.
Where are my chats and screenshots stored?
Workspace conversations and attached screenshots are stored locally on your Mac. Optional context sent for an AI response is discarded after processing. Auris uses feature usage counts, not the contents of your dictation, for product telemetry.

What happens after the seven-day Pro trial?
Starting the trial requires no credit card. When it ends, subscribe to keep the AI features or continue using unlimited free Raw dictation. Starting the app trial does not subscribe you automatically.
Can I cancel a subscription?
Yes. Cancel through your Stripe billing portal. Pro remains available until the end of your paid period; free dictation remains available afterward.
How do I pay?
Subscribe monthly or yearly through Stripe. Major credit and debit cards are accepted, and Apple Pay is supported when available. Checkout confirms the price before payment.

The hotkey is not responding. What should I check?
In System Settings → Privacy & Security, check Microphone, Accessibility, and Input Monitoring permissions for Auris. Restart Auris after granting them. Check Settings → Shortcuts for conflicts with other apps.
My transcript was copied instead of pasted.
Click into an editable text field before dictating. If Auris cannot paste there, your transcript may be on the clipboard. Focus the field and press Cmd + V.
Refinement looks wrong in one app.
Check Settings → AI → Per-App Overrides. An enabled app override takes precedence over your global mode and tone. Make sure it is set to Refined rather than Raw, and that Pro is active. Review the result before sending it.
